Safe And Somewhat Sound...

Well, we made it to Washington from Alaska somewhat okay. Our first attempt to cross the border did not go well. I don't want to go into details, but it was a horrifying experience hubby and I will never forget.
Our second attempt went more smoothly, and our re-entrance into the states was a freakin' cakewalk.
Needless to say, we will not be traveling through Canada again anytime soon.
We had made calls, studied the websites for both borders extensively and were still appalled by what happened. All because of a toy. Yes. A toy. We are so very thankful for all of our family and friends who helped us and supported us. I don't know what we would do without them.
So now, back to writing, revising and my regularly scheduled blog posts. It will take some time, but I will get caught up with everyone soon.
Have a great weekend and see you next week.

  2. Oh. Thank God you are safe. It's sounds traumatic.

  3. Border guards have very little sense of humor on either side of the border. I've crossed it enough.

Your own side (whether Canadian or American) will treat their own better than 'aliens'. Hence you wouldn't have as much trouble re-entering as you would 'passing through' the border.

Don't take it personally, a US border guard checked right down to my makeup and allergy pills one time and wanted me to identify every pill. . .we just happened to fit the 'profile of the day'.

  4. I'm still pretty ticked about what you went through, but at least you got here safely. When my life calms down a bit I want to come visit for a long weekend. We could drive to Darla's and have a mini retreat. :)

  5. I've always wanted to visit Canada. I think if I go though, I won't take any toys.

  6. Hi Mel
So glad you're safe. I've always known there is something dangerous about toys but I thought it lead to me tripping if one of the grandkids left them down. You'd think that the Canadian and US border guards would be kinder to both nationalities since we are such good neighbors. I guess those days are over.
