Just Some Characters...
I've been struggling lately with finding the right look/person/actor whatever that would represent my characters best, should a movie ever be done. Yeah. Sure. But it helps to finally put a face to the character. Seriously, I have this image in my head of Black Rose, but he's always changing because I could never pinpoint his looks. Well, I finally (after discussing it with my hubby) found someone!
Taylor Kitsch. He played Gambit in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'. Yep. That is Black Rose. Maybe not looking so happy or smug. :D
So my other characters, for the most part, have been taken care of. For example, Kayta in my 'Crowning Absolution' story... Kate Beckinsale. That's pretty much the look of her. From 'Van Helsing'. But Kayta is like 18..19 years old. Her mother, Nive (Knee vay) would be this lady:
Shohreh Aghdashloo. She was in 'X-Men: Last Stand' as well as 'Lake House'. She's pretty! And doing well for being 57.
What about Alabassin? My sweet, cute Alabassin who actually does get to choose love in an arranged marriage. My friend, who I portrayed him after, sort of looks like Johnny Depp. But Johnny (sadly) just does not fit the bill. Alabassin should look like Justin Chatwin from 'The Invisible'. Throw some blonde hair on that boy and he'd do just fine!
Alabassin's father was easy, but everyone would mistake him for Draco's father. Jason Issacs fits Mandorak Li'endrin perfectly.
And then there is Farrehn, my half ogre. And his buddy Vendras. The Rock would make a great Farrehn. And originally, I had chosen Heath Ledger as Vendras, he's just got that smart alecky look down pat!
I have yet to find anyone suitable to fit Nightshadow or even Laria. I'll have to work that out. My brain is a little bit mush today. I hate being sick!! But oh well.
Hope you enjoyed this post. It is nice to put an image to a name. Have a great day, everyone!

Isn't it so funny how we often already 'see' an actor playing our characters? I totally had a mental image of the girl from 'the little princess' when I wrote 'gretchen grey'- that's why I put it on her page.
It is funny. I think we do it, though, because unless you're a super good artist, trying to draw up your characters is difficult. We have a specific image in our minds that, try as we might to get it down on paper, still isn't quite right. And, some people visualize the character different from your imagination so providing a picture of an actor helps everyone. Especially the author!
But there are times when the reader will look at your choice and go, "No. No, no, no. Not it at all...THIS is who it should be." And sometimes you will agree and wonder why you didn't think of that person before. :D
You do know that Taylor Kitsch is Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights, right? :-D
I definitely see Kyle Chandler as my character. I even have him on my cover. Well, it's a drawing I did of him, not sure it's identifiable as him.
Jim Sheridan--my other man guy in my book is harder. I saw him once in real life. He was sitting in a conference room at my work. I just happened to glance in and see this guy sitting there. I stopped, did a double take and said to my coworker--That's one of my characters!
I knew that somehow. Don't ask me how I knew that about Taylor, lol!
That would be kind of cool to see one of your characters in real life.
Mary, we're going to have to do a Six Degrees of Separation series with these FNL people!
Love putting images to names. That's something I really need to do - I am the worst at describing characters' physical traits!
I've never found actors to match my people before (though a professor at my college looks a little bit like one of my obnoxious bad guys, which is weird. Oh! And there is someone who goes to my college that has the EXACT SAME profile as one of my characters. So weird! He even WALKS like him. Bizarre. I keep wanting to pop up and take a pic of him all stalker-like.) I do make avatars on tektek.com though.
