Wanting A Change...

I've been trying to find a way to change my website up a bit. So when I logged into Webs.com, I thought, maybe I should just go ahead and upgrade.

...

Yeah, so not worth it.

It's great for a free site, but the fact that even WITH the premium upgrade, I don't get to change up the background that much the way I want it. I'm not a good HTML person. I don't do code and hate asking for someone to help me so I can get a nice one done.

Plus I'm cheap. I want it free.

I know, I know... insert lewd comment here, right?

In this economy with me just barely getting back to work, I can't afford a whole heck of a lot to begin with. But when I am told that getting an upgrade will include a domain name (it doesn't, have to pay extra) or email addresses (can't get 'em without the domain) I sort of expect to get what I'm paying for. Not be sent to other sites to get those extras.

Ah well. So now I am looking around for another place to put up my website. One that will allow me to tweak it how I want to, baby.

I'll either be posting a new link to a new site or I will be back here spitting nails and asking for some suggestions.

Hope you all are having a great week!

This is interesting. I have thought about this before, but haven't really done much to research it. I look forward to following what you plan to do and suggestions from others.

I'd offer to HTML it for you, but I don't have time to re-design my own lately.

Aww, that's okay, Joshua. That's a lot of work anyway. :D

Tash, I did find a place called Wix.com. You can make a free, flash website. I found it a lot more versatile than webs.com. Granted, webs.com did what I needed for the longest time. But I wanted to change things, have fantasy pics as my background, not their template stuff that I couldn't manipulate very much.

Wix.com lets you manipulate more and right now, I'm liking it.

My new website is here: http://www.wix.com/paridzulekeep/mlchesley#! if you want to see. Sort of a long address, but links will make it short. :D

I recently set mine up on Wordpress and absolutely love it. It's easy to do once you learn the ropes, it's free and my url is karenjonesgowen.com, no wordpress in the title. I wanted it to appear more as a website than a blog since I already have a blog thank you, and they have features for that as well. Good luck with yours!

Really? Thanks Karen. That's what I am looking for, something that would look like a professional site rather than a blog. I will go check that out. Thanks again!

Karen's idea sounds best. I know html, but helping someone long distance never seems to work.

What's wrong with just using blogger?

I totally understand actually. The wordpress idea sounds best. I mean, html is fine and all but you really have to know what you're doing in case stuff goes wronggg.

You can have flash elements in a wordpress TOO which is fantastic because flash is a different coding from html anyway.

I hear ya, Alex.

And I never really thought of using blogger for a site, Michael. I sort of felt those two things (a blog and a website) had to be separate.

I'm going to play around with WordPress... see what I can do. Otherwise, I'll work on Blogger. But the question is, how do I get my own background element on blogger?

I'm computer savvy, but not THAT computer savvy I guess. ;)
