Monday & NaNoWriMo...

**This posted early**

It's Monday. Don't know how many of you are thrilled about that aspect, but hey. Can't stop the passage of time, can we? Or can we? I wish!

Nah, I don't like to look too much to the past  unless it is a lesson I need to learn.

I want to give a shout out to all of you doing NaNoWriMo. Good job, keep it up and write on! I'm cheering from the sidelines this year because I didn't think I'd be very focused on it. I love NaNo.

But how many don't know exactly what NaNoWriMo is all about?

Well, first of all it's about seat of your pants writing. Or... pantsing.

It has grown from 21 participants and 6 winners in 1999 to 256,618 participants and 36,843 winners in 2011. Huge accomplishment.

Kids in K-12 schools participate and win. From over 100 in 2005 to over 2,000 in 2011. This is helping to promote literacy and get kids interested in writing. What's not to love about that?

And the big question: How many of these books were actually sold to publishing houses? Many. Yes. Many.

I'm getting these facts from this page on the NaNoWriMo website itself, here.

I have to say, I've seen a couple people bashing NaNo like it is a bad thing. Talking about 'how many NY Times Bestsellers ever wrote in NaNo'? Well, first of all let me just say this:

You'll never know how many NY Times Best Selling Authors participated because you're too busy harshing on something you obviously don't understand. All it does is make you look ignorant.

That's all I'll say on that. I could rant a bit more about it, but I'd rather be cheering all of you who are participating, on!

So keep up the good work, pump out that novel! And maybe, just maybe, you'll be one of those best selling authors on the NY Times list. Let us know if you make it. Woohoo!

It's still Sunday where I live. Did this post early?

I don't do NANO, since I'm not a pantser, but I encourage those who do participate.

A push to write can be a motivator for some. But I do remember all the groaning from the lit agents when NANO is done. Just remember, December is for starting edits if you do NANO.

You scared me - thought I'd missed Sunday!
My manuscript from 2010's NaNo became my second published book, so it can happen.

My first book published, The Swan Cove Murders, was written much like Nano, but it was Savvy Authors' own version in May.

Worked out great! So, I've decided this year to jump on the band wagon and write another by the seat of my pants.

Haha! Yes, this posted early. Wow. I had it all set for the 5th... wonder if I hit the wrong button or if something went wrong. Usually it posts later than I like.

Good luck to anyone who participates in NaNo this year! I love how much it's grown in such little time.
