Cover Reveal: Shadow Blades by Midge Cline...

Hey gang!

I have yet another cover reveal for another book coming out from Midian Entertainment as part of The BREED.

Before I get into the cover reveal, though, I want to let you all know that starting today, there will be some flash fiction tweets on Twitter. John H. Howard, Midge Cline and David Rex Bonnewell have all written some short pieces to be sent over the Twitter feed from today until Halloween!

If you'd like to follow the stories, follow @MidianEntertain on Twitter!

I will also be posting pictures that I feel represent The BREED with bits of flash fiction as well, so you can begin to get to know the world. I'm so very excited we can start telling people about what's happening!

Okay, so on to the cover reveal!

This is Shadow Blades, by Midge Cline, cover art by Noie.

Tada!

All right, hope you all have a great rest of your week and I will see you soon!

Friday Favorites, Fantasy Art & A Funny...

It is Friday again! Woot!

And!

It is August! Can you believe it? Wow. Summer is moving right along and so shall I!

Favorite Books/Authors:

When I was a kid, I read the entire series of 'Little House on the Prairie' books by Laura Ingalls Wilder over and over and over. I loved those books. I learned a lot. I think I posted here recently something about these books. Probably that they were the only books I read a million times. Okay, maybe a hundred. But no less than that, I'm sure! I think these books are the ones that got me so hooked on history. Even if you couldn't tell by my high school grades. Heh.

Favorite Movies:

Just Go With It has become a favorite of mine. I love Adam Sandler and I found Jennifer Aniston to be quite funny. I used to love watching Friends. I have all the DVDs from all seasons except one. I loved her in 'Horrible Bosses', she was bad ass, lol! But this movie was very cute. And now I own it as well.

Favorite Music:

Well, today I will go with Weezer. I love this group. I haven't put a lot of their stuff on my iPod, but I certainly intend to get more. Just something about 'em. They have a good  beat and I can dance to it...

What with all the copyright infringement stuff going on, I have to be careful what I add here. So on the off chance I don't hear back from the artist by the time this post is up, there will be no artwork until I get permission.

Aaaand the funny!

Have a great weekend! What are your plans?

Friday Favorites, Fantasy Art & A Funny...

Well. Your views have spoken! I seriously didn't realize until I took some advice from Jamie over at Mithril Wisdom about your old blog posts, just how many people like my Friday Favorites posts. I mean, 4 out of 5 of the most popular posts were linked to these when I added that little popularity gadget to my blog. Who woulda thought?

So with that in mind, I'm going to give my best effort to maintain these posts.

Favorite Books/Authors:

I have to say, I love the Harry Potter books. I love the series as a whole, but loved The Deathly Hollows more. Not just because it was the last! But because of the answers it gave to all of those questions I gathered from reading all the previous books. J. K. Rowling hit the ball out of the park with these books. As in any series, though, there has to be at least one I didn't like and for me that was The Order of the Phoenix. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good book, but really kinda slow.

Favorite Movies:

On the subject of Harry Potter, my favorite movie of the series was The Prisoner of Azkaban. I'm a huge Gary Oldman fan. Although, I swoon over Alan Rickman more. I don't know exactly why I liked this movie so much. Maybe because Harry finally had 'family'?

Favorite Music:

The Rumjacks! No, this is not a drinking game. It is a band. My son introduced me to them recently. He loves this style of music and loved when I introduced him to the likes of Flogging Molly and the Pogues.

Aaaand the Funny...

Hehe! Have a great weekend everyone and don't get too bored!

Back To The Writing...

So I have been revising my second book. I have my little widget in the corner over there with the word count status.

I don't update that as often as I should. Or, I update it and then more inspiration hits and I keep working.

I have the drawing of Laria done. You have to forgive the bad picture, though. I took it with my cell phone and then tried to fix it on Photobucket. Meh.

At any rate, here it is. I used colored pencils and ink:

The original looks a lot better, obviously. The problem is the original size cannot be scanned in to the computer without professional help. It is larger than my scanner allows, so I have to figure out a way to get this taken care of and up on the internet to use on bookmarks.

A dilemma. Ah well.

Hope you have all had a good week. What are your plans for the weekend? Mine consist of cleaning the house, possibly re-potting my plant as it has finally taken off from a practically dead twig to a thriving houseplant. Now to just keep the cats away from it!

2011 Chesley Award Winners...

I'm fore going my usual Friday post to bring you this:

2011 Chesley Award Winners

Now... I must really be out of the loop or something must be seriously wrong with my head to have never heard of these before. I feel so ashamed.

Not just because of the name, but because of the beautiful artwork!! I wish I were rich enough to commission one of these artists for my books.

Le sigh.

Oh well. Enjoy the artwork!

Friday Favorites, Fantasy Art & A Funny...

It is once again Friday, which means the following Monday, not only will I be 4 weeks post-op, but I will have my review of Elf Killers up along with my Giveaway of the book!

To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment. Multiple comments will not mean multiple entries. Sorry.

At any rate, on to what this post is really for!

Favorite authors/books:
When I was younger, Stephen King was my absolute favorite author because he could scare the crap out of me. Today, his books are okay, but the ones that were out back when I was a teenager like Christine, It, Pet Semetary... those were the bomb diggity. Pet Semetary scared me to pieces. I have issues with death (my own) and I'm not really a big zombie fan, but man.... this book kept me awake at night. My all time favorite though, was the book(s) he wrote with Peter Straub (another one I adored!). Talisman and later, Black House. Well written creep shows! I love me a good scare.
On that note, though, what I don't love to see in horror is an over abundance of unnecessary foul language just thrown in for filler. Yeah, you're scared out of your mind and you might curse, but not every other word needs to be Feck. You get the idea. Or even sex. Where does sex come into play in a horror? Well, I'm going to be the next to die, let's screw like bunnies! ... Not.
Okay, I'm done with that rant.

Favorite movies:
By far, today, it has to be How To Train Your Dragon. I loved that movie. Had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Gerard Butler was the voice of Hiccup's dad. *Coughs* Not a thing!
I loved the dragon! I'm a sucker for Elves and Dragons, people. Let's get this out in the open right now. If I could be an Elf, I would be. If I could own a Dragon... damn skippin' I would! But the dragon reminded me so much of our cat Oona, it cracked me up. Oona certainly is not the smartest cat in the litter, but she's very entertaining.

Favorite music:
Hoobastank! No, that isn't a bad word for those of you who have never heard of them. The Reason is one of my absolute favorite songs in the world. See, I don't just have a list of the top ten songs I love. I have a top 100.
I also have to add to this today and include Warrant as a tribute to the death of lead front man, Jani Lane. Sad. Very sad. He was only 7 years older than me. But I had the opportunity to see Warrant in concert with Poison. Good combination. Good concert. RIP, Jani.

And the funny:

Hehe! Okay everyone. Have a great weekend and don't forget! Look for my review of Elf Killers and the Giveaway on Monday.

Friday Favorites, Fantasy Art & A Funny...

That title means only one thing:

IT'S FRIDAY!

So let's check out some more of my favorites before moving on to the artwork and the funny.

Favorite Authors/Books:

Melanie Rawn. I absolutely love her Dragon Prince series. OMGah! Seriously, I can read them over and over again which is saying a lot for me because I usually do NOT read books more than once. I read hers, Eddings and Rowling's books.
However, I have to say I am super disappointed in the fact that her Exiles series has come to a dead stop. The first two books in the series came out in 1995 and 1998. The third book, The Captal's Tower is still listed as 'forthcoming' yet she has other books out.

Now mind you, I understand how difficult it is to maintain a fantasy world of your own making and to keep on the writing track of that world. But does she really expect her fans to wait 13 + years for the next book? Why even begin a series if you are not going to finish it? Yes, life hits you with hardships, illness... I understand these all to well, also. This is just my gripe.

Favorite movies:

Let's see... one of my all time favorite movies has to be Boondock Saints. I love that movie!! Every so often I might list a chick-flick here, but more often than not it will be an action/thriller movie. I can watch Boondock Saints over and over and still be highly amused by the cat scene. If you don't know what I am talking about... I won't describe it... sorry!

Favorite music:

Another one of my favorite bands is INXS. I have loved that band for a very long time. I can list dozens of other groups, but this is what my Fridays are for, right? Suicide Blonde, Devil Inside... trying to remember as many of the songs as I can but my brain doesn't want to cooperate.

On to the Fantasy Art!:

This week ~ Inga Nielsen

Ha! Funnily enough, last week's artwork (the one I couldn't remember where I got it) was also Inga Neilsen's!

Now for the Funny:

Have a super weekend!
