Short Stories that appeared in several Word Weavers Anthologies also are included in this collection.

Outsider by W. Freedreamer Tinkanesh ~
Rooted in the music scene of London, UK, and inspired by a life-long passion for music and a peculiar interest in private dark sides, 'Outsider' is a study of human emotions, disturbed by vampires and punctuated with rock music. Sid is a medicated musician who has lost her rhythm, but strangely is finding her voice as a writer. For Joy, the bored blood-drinker, it might have started when a powerful vampire turned her into a creature of the night at the dawn of the 20th century. Is everything as it seems? Is everyone as they appear? With offbeat sense of humour and twisted realism, the author guides you down a trail of bodies (alive, dead and undead) until the final showdown.

Black Pyramid by Anita Dawn Stewart ~
A beautiful land enriched with a history of mythical Gods and power hungry pharaohs. There is ONE who walks among us. He knows the truth of the Ancient Egyptians....   Siaak hides the reality of an era long erased from the temples and obelisks in order to keep the world safe. For there lurks an evil waiting to regain control of Egypt and rule the entire world!   Archeologist, Melissa Ambers, can't resist the offer to excavate a newly discovered pyramid. Only this one isn’t just any pyramid. It’s the mysterious, Black Pyramid! She finds out there's more to the stone monument than meets the eye. And within hours of stepping inside the dark tomb, Melissa's on the war path with Siaak. An ancient being who will stop at nothing to keep the leader of the BloodSeekers imprisoned. Even if it means killing Melissa and all who seek the knowledge of, the Ancient Breeds!

No Good Deed by M. P. McDonald ~ Mark Taylor discovers first hand that no good deed goes unpunished when the old camera he found during a freelance job in an Afghanistan bazaar gives him more than great photos. It triggers dreams of disasters. Tragedies that happen exactly as he envisions them. He learns that not only can he see the future, he can change it. Then the unthinkable happened and everyone ignored his frantic warnings. Thousands die. Suddenly, the Feds are pounding on his door and the name they have for Taylor isn't urban hero. It's enemy combatant. And, it means they can do anything they want to him. Anything at all.

Sweet Treat, Sneak Peek!...

All right! I'm at the point where I can share snippets of my book with you all until it is released. And possibly even after to keep up interest, of course.

So I thought, hmm... what could I do to make this a bit more interesting? Well, since Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas are creeping up on us fast—Cookies!

I'm going to share a cookie recipe and a snippet. So you can make a sweet treat after I give you a sneak peek at my book.

Sound fair? All right, then, here we go!

I'm going to start with this recipe I found in the Better Homes and Gardens Ultimake Cookies and Bars magazine. I have yet to find another special interest issue like it.

This cookie fits Kayta. (Yes, I paired up the cookie with the character...) I have yet to make these, but they are on my cookie list this year.

~Chai Moons~

1 Cup softened butter     1 Cup packed brown sugar
1 Tablespoon leaf chai tea, finely ground     1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking soda     1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 Cups all purpose flour     Butter frosting      Demerara sugar

In large mixing bowl, beat butter with electric mixer 30 seconds. Add in all ingredients except flour, blend well. Slowly add in flour, mix well. Divide dough in half and chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll one half of dough until 1/4 inch thick. Using a 3 inch crescent shaped cutter, cut out dough. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and backe 8-10 minutes. Frost cooled cookies with butter frosting and sprinkle with Demerara sugar.

~Kayta~

Kayta sat up, sweat drenched her skin and she clutched at the sheet that covered her. She couldn't breathe, her throat constricted. After a moment, she gasped, filling her lungs with air, tears streaming down her cheeks. She looked around frantically, trying to get her bearings.
“Easy now,” someone moved to sit beside her and held her gently by the shoulders.
“Wh-where am I?” she whispered.
“Shh, do nae speak. Try tae be quiet,” the voice was low, the accent odd to her ears. Kayta pulled up the sheet to her chin and looked around. Beds lined the walls on either side, and lanterns were lit and turned low. In the dim light, she could see the face of the person who sat beside her, trying to soothe her.
“Who are you?” she whispered again. The man chuckled, his long black hair hung loose around his shoulders. There were bruises on his face, a greenish tinge indicating that they were healing as well as a few cuts.
“I'm Farrehn,” he told her. He turned his head to make sure they were not disturbing anyone, and his eyes caught the lamplight. The red of his eyes indicated his race.

Sweet Treat, Sneak Peek!...

All right! I'm at the point where I am allowed to share snippets of my book with you all until it is released.

I figure this would be a good cookie to pair up with my character Nightshadow. She's pretty spicy and she loves her blended herb cigarettes.

~Spicy Molasses Cookies~

1 3/4 Cups all purpose flour     1/2 Cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon     1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground ginger     1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves     1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper     1/2 Cup softened butter
1/4 Cup shortening     1/3 Cup granulated sugar
1/3 Cup packed brown sugar     1 egg yolk
1/2 Cup dark molasses     1 teaspoon vanilla

In medium bowl, mix first 9 ingredients. In another bowl, beat butter and shortening for 30 seconds. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar. Add yolk, molasses, and vanilla. Beat until combined, then slowly add in flour mixture. Chill for one hour. Roll into 1 inch balls. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

And since you were so patient through that long list of ingredients, here is the snippet! Enjoy, both the cookies and the sneak peek:

~Nightshadow~

Nightshadow sat up in her room inside the massive mansion Nikkolani had taken over when he first came to Moordigan. This home had been abandoned, overrun with vines and weeds, matching the state of the rest of the city when Nikkolani first arrived. He fixed it up to suit his tastes and used more of the king's coin rather than his own. When he built up his D'raetus Pastiniir, he rewarded his finest assassins handsomely and in different ways based on performance. Being the best at her profession gave her some perks, but it also gave her some heartaches. She worked up the courage to speak to Nikkolani at some length during the night about Farrehn, who now lay in the Healer's Guild because of her. The discussion had been very heated, so much so that she decided to wait to tell him about Sorcha and the agreement she had made.
Dressed in loose leggings and a tunic belted at the waist, Nightshadow now sat before the window, absentmindedly braiding her hair. When she reached the end, she tied it off and stood just as a soft knock landed on her door. She slowly crossed the room, not expecting anyone, and opened the door.
“Nikkolani would like to speak with you,” a young girl told her.
“I'll be down in a moment.”
“I'll let him know.” Nightshadow shut the door and went over to her bed to pull on her boots. As she left her room, she locked the door. Living with thieves, it would be a matter of moments before they picked the lock but she certainly was not going to make it easy for them.

How I Write Fantasy...

I'm going to be writing up some posts in the next several weeks in regards to my views of writing fantasy and more importantly how I write fantasy. Things I have worked on, things that took me a long freakin' time to create. Now, this may or may not help you if you are a fantasy writer, time will only tell. Most fantasy writers take so long in writing their work because of all the world building they have to do. Others just wing it.

So what, first of all, does world building include? Well, that depends on how far you want to get into it. Here is what my world building included:

* Magic

*Kingdoms

*Laws

*Creatures

*Characters

*Money

*Gods and Goddesses

These are just the main things. In each of those categories, there are numerous sub-categories. I had to make lots of decisions regarding the list above.

In making decisions on my world, in general, I had to start out with some pretty mundane stuff regarding the sun, moon, stars and so on.

Might sound silly to you, but in writing fantasy, you're here to think outside of the box. I literally came up with several choices on those basic things and rolled the dice. Not kidding! I used to play Dungeons and Dragons, so I pulled out all my dice. Six sided, four sided, twenty sided and I rolled, baby!

My world has two suns. If you think this might be a hot climate, it isn't really. The second sun is really, really tiny when you look at it up in the sky of my world.

I have one moon in my night sky and of course, my stars make up their own constellations which had to be written down in folklore and the like. I even have a story about the moon. I'm still working on the constellations and the stories associated with them.

So, over the next several weeks, I'll be posting things about my world and choosing from those categories above. Bear with me, as I worked on this world for well over ten years and it still isn't done or is it perfect. I'm constantly adding to it and changing things, but most of what I have is set in stone and is here to stay. So I hope you enjoy what I have to share!

Friday Favorites, Fantasy Art & A Funny...

So I thought I would start doing something fun for Fridays. Everyone else does. :D

I figure I will list my favorite authors/books, movies and music. I'll also be throwing in some fantasy artwork and just to make you giggle (cause I LOVE to hear you giggle...) a funny.

Favorite authors/books:

I have to go with David and Leigh Eddings at the moment. I absolutely LOVED every single one of the books in 'The Belgariad' and 'The Mallorean' series. I'm currently reading 'The Redemption of Althalus' and can I just tell you... it is EPIC. This is the kind of writing I love. I love all of the characters that come out of their imaginations, I feel so connected to them and there is usually a dozen or so linked with the MC's that, if they weren't there, the book would be boring and flat. But the fact that they can tell a story with so many characters... that is what my writing is like and I can only dream of pulling it off as well as they do.

Favorite movies:

I'm a sucker for a good movie. Now, I am not all about the chick flicks even though I do watch them once in awhile to purge my system of old tears that need to be shed so I can have new tears form...
I love action, adventure, thriller, HORROR! and all sorts of movies. Recommend a good movie and I'll watch it. So far, my current favorite is 'RED' with Bruce Willis. The whole freakin' cast just cracks me up. I love the movie, I love the effects! My favorite line from the movie is after Bruce's character asks John Malkovich's character if he feels better (near the end) and John's character says, "Yeah. Wanna go get pancakes?" (after just killing a guy!) Hilarious!! I love it. I think that is how I would be... lol! ::coughs and looks innocent::

Favorite music:

I have always been a super huge fan of Queensryche. Yep... Operation Mindcrime, Empire... I love Geoff Tate's voice. I'm so glad he didn't go opera. Don't get me wrong, I love opera, but he's better suited for Rock.

Now for some fantasy artwork: (I seriously need to remember what sites I get these off of... I just pull off the pretty ones. ;)

And of course I have to give you the 'geeky' funny:

More Updates...

Wow, getting some awesome responses for our little give away. I'm so happy!

I also wanted to clarify a little bit here, that my sister in law, Cheri Chesley has her own separate blog. So if you follow mine, follow hers as well. We do lots of things on a joint effort here. She's a mom of 5, I have one teenager living with me. She's got lots going on in her community, I spend days in PJ's. She's got a book coming out soon, I'm still in the revising stage. ;) All in all, we're family and we help family.

So our little contest we're doing is to boost our followers to 100 each. She or I could have been selfish and just said, "gimme 200 followers and I will give you stuff!" Nope, doesn't work that way, not with us anyway. Hehe!

So here's a couple of little clues as to what we're giving away once we each reach 100 followers:

A Mystery Package - Includes Mystery genre books + goodies.
A Fantasy Package - Includes Fantasy genre books + goodies.
A Romance Package - Includes Romance genre books + goodies.

Don't know if that piqued your interest, since I didn't give much away. I'm silly like that. So again: Follow my blog AND follow Cheri's. Get us to 100 followers each so we can give these fun little packages away!

Thanks to all who have joined so far! You're awesome. :D

*Note: I do click on my followers and follow your blog in return, just so you know. I'm doing this to find more writing blogs as well! Thanks!
