Grand G Day...

G is for Grand, Growing, Group. An eclectic mix of G's could be spouted today, but I think I will stick with:

Goddesses and Gods.

I have lots in my world. I have an entire Pantheon (I know, doesn't start with G). I have tried to think up as many or as few as I could. I have deities for hunting, harvest, luck and time. I have twins who rule the Underworld and the Plains of Afterlife.

They're awesome. As different as night and day, one is dark and sinister, the other loving and compassionate.

Ta'arinuru (Tar ee new roo) is the goddess of the Underworld. She generally takes the form of a drow. Black skin, light hair and it suits her. She lives to torment those who have done wrong and is constantly looking for more to corrupt. Those in service to her are known as Blood Guards. Demi-gods, not quite under her rule completely, a mistake she'll never make again. Her other minions are demons, those she thought fit to condemn with powers in her struggle to control all of the dead.

Veritru'ul (Ver eh trool) is her sister. Light hair, fair skin and a loving disposition. She chooses only to fight her sister when she feels her sister is growing too bold. Otherwise, she generally ignores her and leaves her to her own devices. Veritru'ul is compassionate and allows those who have made mistakes into the Plains of Afterlife. She gives them the opportunity to redeem themselves, to enter the circle of life once more to learn their lessons, correct their mistakes and purify their souls.

With reincarnation, there has to be someone to guide them. Pel, goddess of life and rebirth, ushers them along this path.

An old saying from my world: "May Bellerine smile upon her brother and end her torment of him." Bellerine, goddess of Peace, has a tendency to tease her brother, Slaibel, god of War. It usually puts him into a fit of rage, which causes war and destruction. It is a saying akin to "Peace be with you".

So favorite group beginning with G would be: Goo Goo Dolls. Movie: Ghostbusters.

I always say that I don't like fantasy but I am an avid reader and all fiction is fantasy, right? And I've read all the Twilights, and Harry Potters, and am addicted to Lost, so I guess maybe I am a fantasy fan after all. Looking forward to reading more of yours!

I'm a great believer in a growing pantheon og gods and goddesses. they live in my garden and in many pages of my novels. I see them as symbolas of the various facets of our complete psyches and calling on them is also calling on the riches buried in our subconscious which we haven't had the guts to tap into yet. The gods and goddesses lead us there as we endure the trials of our lives and develop various aspects of our personality - both in our lives and in our character's lives as we put them through a series of tests.
